No injuries were reported following a small structure fire in Hōlualoa early this morning.

Hawai‘i Island police responded to the blaze, located on the 76-6000 block of Māmalahoa Highway, at 3:46 a.m. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a resident of the property trying to put out the flames with a garden hose.

It was determined that the structure was uninhabited and that a 20-foot-by-20-foot section was burnt. Hawai‘i Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and extinguished the remnants of the fire.

It is unknown how the fire started and there was no assessment of the damages.
