UPDATE: Vehicle crash, downed electrical pole cleared from previously closed portion of Ali‘i Drive in Kailua-Kona

Update at 7:11 a.m. Nov. 11: The vehicle crash near the 1.5-mile marker on Ali‘i Drive in Kona that caused an electrical pole to fall onto the roadway has been addressed.

Ali‘i Drive, between Lunapule Road and Royal Poinciana Drive, is reopen; however, portions of the roadway are closed temporarily this morning because of an unrelated and previously scheduled race.

Runners and road crews are in the area; drive with caution.

A vehicle crash near the 1.5-mile marker has closed Alii Drive, between Lunapule Road and Royal Poinciana Drive, and will require a detour of traffic for the next several hours.

A photo posted by Elizabeth Poire on social media showed the damaged poll, located just north of Ali‘i Lani and Casa de Emdeko.
