No injuries reported following fire at apartment-style building in Waikōloa

No injuries were reported following a structure fire at an apartment complex in Waikōloa Wednesday evening.

Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the four-unit apartment-style building at 8:14 p.m. on Kekumu Place. Within 7 minutes, crews arrived on scene where they found the two-story building 50% involved in flames.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze in an initial attack with two pre-connect lines.

All occupants of the apartment building were accounted for, including a family dog found hiding in the upstairs burnt unit that was brought out by its owners. It was alive and unharmed.

Two additional fire companies responded to assist with salvage and overhaul. The fire was limited to two of the four units.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
