Big Island Now No. 25 poll results: Whether above or below the surf, poll reveals love for all forms of ocean recreation

Last week, we asked what your favorite water sport was to participate in on Hawai‘i Island. Poll results are in and whether above or beneath the surf, people love the ocean in all forms of recreation.

The favorite ocean activity on Hawai‘i Island is snorkeling, garnering 67 of the votes out of 234. The second was swimming with 39 votes.

Only three people voted for none of the options listed, while 22 people voted for all of them.

One person indicated in the comments that fishing was their favorite activity. They wrote: “I have been fishing most of my life. But always in fresh water. A(n) all new experience here, there is much to learn. I’m enjoying it.”

Fishing received 18 votes.
