Weekly Hawai‘i Island lane closures: Sept. 2-8
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced lane closure scheduled for the week of Sept. 2-8.
There will be no closures Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day. Schedules also can change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.
— KUAKINI HIGHWAY/MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —
1) KEA‘AU (WEEKEND WORK)
Single lane closure between mile post 7 and 9, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and North Road, on Saturday, Sept. 2, through Sunday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
2) KEA‘AU
Single lane closure between mile post 7 and 9, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and North Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
3) PĀHALA (WEEKEND WORK)
Single lane closure possible in either direction between mile post 48 and 49, on Saturday, Sept. 2, through Sunday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
4) CAPTAIN COOK
Single lane closure possible in either direction in the vicinity of Telephone Exchange Road and Koa Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.
5) HONALO
Single lane closure possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Māmalohoa Highway and Kuakini Highway, on Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Friday, Sept. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for construction as part of the Kuakini Highway Drainage Improvements.

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 5 and 8, in the vicinity of Kahoa Place and Hanawī Street, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for mulching and tree trimming.
2) PĀPA‘IKOU (WEEKEND WORK)
Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 6 and 8, in the vicinity of Kaaukai Place and Hanawī Street, beginning Saturday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and shoulder work.
3) HAKALAU TO NĪNOLE (WEEKEND WORK)
Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 15.7 and 17.8, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, on Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for repaving work.

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27, in the vicinity of Koi Place and Stevens Road, on Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Friday, Sept. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for striping and installing roadway markers.
6) HONOKA‘A
Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 36 and 39, in the vicinity of Chopper Boulevard, on Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping of the roadway.
7) HONOKA‘A
Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 37.72 and 37.73, in the vicinity of Kalōpā Road on Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Friday, Sept. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for HECO to replace substandard utility poles and restring overhead lines.

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 14 and 16, beginning Saturday, Sept. 2 through Sunday, Sept. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting

Single lane closure possible in either direction, between mile post 16.9 and 26, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5 through Friday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for crews to work on highway safety improvements, strengthening and extending shoulders.
