Update at 7:39 p.m. Aug. 18: Hawai‘i County Civil Defense reports that police say Highway 190 between mile markers 34 and 35 in North Kona is now open to all traffic.

Original story: Hawai‘i County Civil Defense reports that Big Island police advise Highway 190, between mile markers 34 and 35, will be closed for the next two hours because of a traffic accident.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
