Made in Hawai‘i Festival to donate of proceeds to Maui wildfire relief effort

The Made in Hawai‘i Festival, produced by the Hawai‘i Food Industry Association, will donate 10% of ticket sales profits and 100% of profits from Made in Hawai‘i Festival HiLife T-shirt sales to the Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund.

“Now more than ever, support for small businesses, especially those based on Maui, is essential,” said Deron Furukawa of Maui Chili Chili Oil in Wailuku, which is participating in this year’s festival. “Our neighbor’s loss is our loss, and while exhausted this past week as we struggle in every aspect to resume operations, we must succeed. We must perform well so that we can give back more.”

Of the more than 450 vendor booths in the 2023 festival spotlighting the state’s most talented local artisans, makers and entrepreneurs, a portion are based on the Valley Isle.

The three-day Made in Hawai‘i Festival is planned for this weekend, Aug. 18-20, at the Hawai‘i Convention Center in Exhibition Halls I and II.

All-day tickets are available now online for $8. Pre-orders for T-shirts must be made online via HiLife’s website and can be picked up at the HiLife Booth during the festival.

“We are humbled and heartened by the heroic efforts of everyone, from our first responders to relief workers, to ordinary citizens who continue to fight for our safety and bring comfort to each other in spite of the fact that virtually all of their lives have been turned upside down,” said Chris ter Horst of Maui Fruit Jewels in Kula, which is also a 2023 festival vendor.
