8:30 a.m. update on Monday: Both lanes on Route 11 near the 82 mile marker, by Manuka State Park, are now open.   

Original post: Hawai’i County drivers should avoid Highway 11 in Ka’u near the 82 mile marker as police have closed the area in both directions due to a vehicle crash.

This section of Highway 11 will remain closed for the next several hours as police conduct their investigation.

There are no detours available. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes until the road is reopened.
