Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area will be closed temporarily one day this week for vector control. (File photo)

Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area off Daniel K. Inouye Highway, also known as Saddle Road, on the Big Island will be closed from 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 8 for vector control operations.

Members of the public should plan ahead if they will be traveling through the saddle area, as public restrooms and amenities at the park will not be available during the closure.
