In June, Hawaiʻi Gov. Josh Green signed a bill that creates an Illegal Fireworks Task Force within the Hawai‘i Department of Law Enforcement and appropriates funding for the initiative.

The new task force will work to stop the importation of illegal fireworks and explosives into Hawaiʻi and also focus on promoting compliance with the state’s fireworks control laws. This includes ensuring the safety and security of facilities and institutions within Hawai’i against the discharge of illegal fireworks and explosives.

With the 4th of July celebration on Tuesday, we want to hear from our Big Island Now readers about what they think the priority should be for the new fireworks task force.
