Update at 4:15 p.m.: Kawaihae Road near Anekona now is open following a crash, Hawaiʻi Island police said.

Original post: The Hawaiʻi Police Department advises motorists to avoid Kawaihae Road near Anekona (63 mile post) due to a traffic collision.

First responders are investigating the crash.  At 2:47 p.m., police said to expect the closure to last for at least the next two hours.
