A couple was displaced after a structure fire in a Puna neighborhood damaged their home late Wednesday night.

At 8:53 p.m., Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the structure fire, located in Eden Roc on the 15-1700 block of 24th Avenue. When crews arrived on scene, they found a 1,500-square-foot, single-story wooden structure on fire. About half of the house was involved in flames.

The family, a male and female, was inside the home when the blaze started but evacuated safely. They were outside the house when fire crews arrived. The flames were out by 10:50 p.m.

Thirteen firefighters responded to the scene as well as three engines and a tanker truck which supplied additional water supply.
