Hawai‘i DOT: Scheduled lane closures for week of May 20-26 on Big Island

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures scheduled for May 20-26 on Big Island roadways.

Motorists should be aware that lane closure schedules can change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— MĀMALOHA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

PĀHALA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from May 20-21 between mile markers 53 and 55, near Kaʻalāiki Road for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 58 and 61 in the vicinity of Whittington Beach Park for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 20-21 between mile markers 89 and 90 near Miloliʻi Road for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 93 and 96 between ʻŌhiʻa Malu Road and Kaohe Road for vegetation cutting.

Sidewalk closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22-26 between mile marker 110.8 to 110.9 in the vicinity of Onouli Road and Knoawaena School Road for Americans with Disabilities Act improvements at the bus stop by Konawaena Elementary.

Sidewalk closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22-26 between mile marker 111.4 to 111.5 in the vicinity of Kona Hongwanji Mission driveway and Nani Kūpuna Street for Americans with Disabilities Act improvements at the bus stop by Bank of Hawaiʻi.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

Single lane close possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22-26 in the vicinity of Nahenahe Loop and Hooper Road for Kuakini drainage improvements.

— HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) —

HILO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 20-21 between mile markers 4 and 6, between Kulana Kea Drive and Kaʻaukai Place, for vegetation cutting.

PAPAIKOU TO PEPEʻEKEO

Single left lane closure in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 6 and 9, between Kaʻaukai Place and ʻŌnohi Loop, for vegetation cutting.

NĪNOLE TO PĀPA‘ALOA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 19 and 23, between Hanamalo Lane and Kapehu Road, for vegetation cutting

PĀPA‘ALOA TO ‘Ō‘ŌKALA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 23 and 28, between Kapehu Road and Stevens Road, for road resurfacing.

HONOKA‘A

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 22-26 at Kalopa Road. Hawaiian Electric will be replacing substandard utility poles and restringing overhead lines.

— KAWAIHAE ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) —

WAIMEA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 20-21 between mile markers 62 and 63, between ‘Ohina Street and Waiula Drive, for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 60 and 64, between ‘Ohina Street and Waiemi Place, for vegetation cutting.

— KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD/PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (HIGHWAY 130) —

PĀHOA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 20-21 between mile markers 10 and 12 in the vicinity of Kaʻohe Homestead Road and Pāhoa Village Road for guardrail cleaning and vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 12 and 15, between Kaʻohe Homestead Road and Alaili Road, for guardrail cleaning and vegetation cutting.

— MĀMALOHA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 190) —

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 22-26 between mile markers 17 and 26 for installation of shoulder extension.

— HAWI ROAD (HIGHWAY 250) —

HAWI (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 20-21 between Banana Ranch Road and ʻAkoni Pule Highway for tree cutting.
