Public alerted about upcoming work, closures on two Hilo roadways

Hawai‘i County is alerting the public about the following roadwork projects and updates.

Resurfacing work to begin on portion of Kalanianaʻole Street

Department of Public Works crews will be resurfacing Kalanianaʻole Street in Keaukaha from May 15-26. The roadwork is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and will extend from the King’s Landing entrance to Kolea Street.

Motorists can expect lane closures and flaggers directing traffic.

Update to Keawe Street roadwork schedule

Keawe Street will be limited to one lane between Haili Street and Furneaux Lane overnight between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. from May 15-18. No parking will be allowed on that block during those times; pedestrian access will remain available.

Both lanes of Keawe Street will remain open to traffic and parking during the day, on weekends and on holidays.
