Hawai‘i DOT: Scheduled Big Island lane closures for the week of May 13-19

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures scheduled for May 13-19 on Big Island roadways.

Motorists should be aware that lane closure schedules can change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— MĀMALOHA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 15-19 at Mountain View Elementary School, Aloha Gas station and fronting the U.S. Post Office for installation of a raised crosswalk.

Right lane closure in the eastbound direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 15-16, between mile markers 30 and 34, in the vicinity of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, for a U.S. Geological Survey crew to conduct a land survey in the area.

PĀHALA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 15-19, between mile markers 53 and 55, in the vicinity of Kaʻalāiki Road for vegetation cutting.

CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 15-19, between mile markers 88 and 90, in the vicinity of Miloliʻi Road for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 15-19 fronting Hoʻokena Elementary School and fronting Hōnaunau Elementary School for installation of a raised crosswalk.

KEALAKEKUA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 15-19 fronting Sonshine Preschool/Day Care for installation of a raised crosswalk.

— KUAKINI HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

HONALO

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 15-19 in the vicinity of Nahenahe Loop and Hooper Road for Kuakini drainage improvements.

— HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) —

HILO

Single lane closure possible in either direction between from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 15-19 between mile markers 4 and 6, in the vicinity of Wainaku Street and Kaʻaukai Place, for vegetation cutting.

PĀPA‘ALOA TO LAUPĀHOEHOE

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15-19 between mile markers 23 and 28, in the vicinity of Kapehu Road and Stevens Road, for road resurfacing.

HONOKA‘A

Single left lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 15-19 near mile marker 38 at Kalopa Road for Hawaiian Electric Co. work to replace poles and restring overhead lines.

— KAWAIHAE ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) —

WAIMEA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 15-19 between mile markers 62 and 63, in the vicinity of Kahinu Place and Anekona Street, for vegetation cutting.

— PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (HIGHWAY 130) —

PĀHOA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 15-19 between mile markers 10 and 12, in the vicinity of Kaʻohe Homestead Road, for vegetation cutting.

— MĀMALOHA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 190) —

KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure possible in either direction from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15-19 between mile markers 17 and 26, in the vicinity of Puʻu Lani Drive, for safety improvements and shoulder extension.

— HAWI ROAD (HIGHWAY 250) —

HAWI

Single lane closure possible from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 15-19 in either direction between Banana Ranch Road and Akoni Pule Highway for tree cutting.
