This man is a person of interest in a Hawaiʻi Island police assault investigation for an incident that happened at a beach in Kona.

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man who is a person of interest in an assault investigation that took place on May 6 at a Kailua-Kona beach on the Big Island.

Police received a report about 6:03 p.m. on Saturday of an unidentified male assaulting a patron at a beach located off of Hulikoa Street. The man was captured on a video recording that documented a portion of the incident, police said.

The man is described as being in his late 30s or early 40s, with a thin build and a light brown complexion. He has a tattoo on his right shoulder that resembles scales. He was last seen wearing black shorts and no shirt.
