Big Island Now readers weighed in on how they celebrate their moms on Mother’s Day. And with the holiday a week away, there still is plenty of time to plan the perfect gift.

Poll results show the top way people show moms appreciation is sending flowers, with 31% of the vote. In second place was calling her at 22%. Fourteen people even said they would clean her house. Nice kids.

Serena Dalhke, a florist at Safeway, said she thinks flowers were the top choice in the poll because it’s easy and beautiful.

However, while the poll only provided one way to celebrate mothers, one commenter indicated they would call and also send chocolates.
