Road closure planned for Keawe Street due to sewer lateral

The Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works has announced the upcoming closure of portions of Keawe Street in Hilo due to planned sewer lateral work between Haili Street and Kalākaua Street.

The makai lane of Keawe Street will be closed nightly to vehicles from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday thru Thursday, during the weeks of May 1 through 4 and May 8 through 11. No parking will be allowed on any of Keawe Street during these times. However, pedestrian access will be available.

All of Keawe Street between Haili Street and Kalākaua Street will be closed nightly to vehicles from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., Monday thru Thursday, during the week of May 22 through 25. No parking will be allowed on any of Keawe Street during these times. However, pedestrian access will be available.

Please note that both lanes of Keawe Street will remain open to traffic and parking during daytime hours, on weekends, and holidays.
