22 motorists arrested for DUI from April 10-16

Twenty-two motorists were arrested during the week of April 10-16 for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 301 DUI arrests compared with 321 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.2%.

After a review of all updated crashes, Traffic Services found 275 major accidents so far this year compared with 215 during the same period last year, an increase of 27.9 percent.

To date, there have been six fatal crashes, resulting in seven fatalities, compared with 10 fatal crashes, resulting in 12 fatalities (one of which had multiple deaths) for the same time last year. This represents a decrease of 50% for fatal crashes, and 50 percent for fatalities.
