University of Hawai‘i names finalists for 3 seats on Board of Regents

The Candidate Advisory Council for the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents has presented a list of candidates to Gov. Josh Green to fill one Honolulu County seat, one Maui County seat, and one Hawaiʻi County seat for 5-year appointments beginning July 1, 2023, subject to confirmation by the Hawaiʻi State Senate.

The finalists for the Hawai‘i County seat are as follows:

  • Michael Miyahira – a consultant to owners of family owned and closely held businesses located across the state of Hawai‘i
  • Kona Moran – principal broker and owner of real estate company Hilo Brokers, Ltd. on the Big Island
  • Alapaki Nahale-a – CEO of the Global Resiliency Hub at ‘Iole in Kohala, Hawai‘i
  • Steven Pavao – a public health program manager and branch chief of the Hawai‘i Island Community Mental Health Centers Branch, a branch of the Department of Health’s Adult Mental Health Division.
