No tsunami threat to Hawai’i after 7.1 magnitude earthquake strikes near Kermadec Islands

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred at approximately 2:56 p.m. in the vicinity of the Kermadec Islands.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center confirms there is no tsumani threat to the Big Island or the State of Hawai’i.
