Fire at home possibly used by squatters

A fire destroyed a 1,000-square-foot home at 92-8862 Reef Parkway in Ocean View.
Firefighters arrived at 11:19 p.m. on Wednesday to find the unoccupied home that was 450 feet down a steep driveway fully involved.
Access was difficult due to the terrain. The loss was valued at $30,000.

The house possibly had been inhabited by squatters, but it was unoccupied at time of the fire, according to the Hawaiʻi County Fire Department.
