Distant 6.2 earthquake near Papua New Guinea; no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 has occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. in the vicinity of Papua New Guinea.
But the warning center confirms that there is no tsunami threat to the Hawaiʻi Island and the State of Hawaiʻi, according to the Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency.
