Big Island firefighters: Ocean View residence burned down Thursday night

Big Island firefighters found an unoccupied two-story residential building fully engulfed in flames yesterday, when responding to a 8:20 p.m. call in Ocean View.

Although no fatalities or injuries were reported, power lines were down and multiple vehicles were on fire when firefighters arrived on scene at 92-2160 Ocean View Parkway, according to a report from the Hawai‘i County Fire Department.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze just before 10 p.m.

The owner of the burnt-down dwelling is currently unknown. The Hawai‘i County Fire Department has estimated a $212,520 loss.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
