Pōhakuloa Training Area will host its archery mammal hunts Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on both days.

These hunts will not be administered using the lottery system and standard harvest limits apply. Reservations open at 6 p.m. the day before the hunt. Email [email protected] to reserve a spot. Keep up-to-date on hunting at: https://pta.isportsman.net.

Additionally, military convoys and training at Pōhakuloa Training Area will be taking place in about a week.

On Feb. 17, 20 and 23-26, convoys will travel from and to the Kawaihae Dock in North Kohala. Small arms training will also be underway at the military base. Officials say these trainings may be heard by surrounding communities and are subject to change based on safety, weather and other environmental factors.

While sometimes loud, military officials say this training is critical to ensure military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely. If the public does hear noise, officials assure there is no immediate danger.

To report concerns related to noise or training, contact the Public Affairs Office at 808-787-7839 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
