Hawai’i Island police asks public to help identify hit-and-run suspect

Hawai‘i Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the operator of a vehicle involved in a hit and run traffic collision that occurred in a retail store parking lot located in the 16-0000 block of Orchidland Drive in the Puna District.

Puna Patrol officers responded to a hit-and-run traffic collision that occurred in a retail store parking lot located off of Orchidland Drive on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m.

Officers contacted the victim who reported they had witnessed a white Toyota 4Runner SUV bearing Hawai‘i license plate number ZHH625 strike their parked vehicle. The victim took a photograph of the responsible vehicle and its occupants before the vehicle fled the scene without exchanging information.

Police ask anyone with information as to the identity of the vehicle operator to contact Officer Keaolapule Fessenden-Grace at (808) 965-2716, or call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
