Update at 6:40 a.m. on Jan. 4: Both lanes on Route 190 in North Kona, near the 15 mile marker, are now open. A section of the road was closed for several hours due to a vehicle crash.

Original post: The Hawai’i Island Police Department advises motorists to avoid Route 190 in North Kona due to a vehicle crash.

The accident occurred near the 15 mile marker. Route 190 is closed between Route 200 (Daniel K. Inouye Highway) and the 15 mile marker.

There will be a detour of traffic for the next several hours.
