Big Island weekly lane closures: Dec. 10-16

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation announces weekly lane closures for Dec. 3-9. Lane closure schedules can change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

Note: A no parking zone remains in effect between mile marker 16 and the junction of Daniel K. Inouye Highway, or Saddle Roade, with Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 190). In addition, parking is prohibited on the shoulders of Maunakea Access Road because of fire concerns.

— VOLCANO ROAD/MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

1) KEAʻAU

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Highway 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 6 and 9, in the vicinity of Kipimana Street and North Road, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

Shoulder closure on Volcano Road (Highway 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 8 to 8.01, in the vicinity of Keaʻau 9.5 Mile Cp, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for replacement and installation of signs at various locations.

3) MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Volcano Road (Highway 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 16, Enos Road and vicinity of N. Peck Road, on Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

4) BETWEEN VOLCANO AND PĀHALA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 40 and 45 on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Highway 11) possible in either direction between mile marker 113.9 and 114, vicinity of Honalo Road, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Kuakini Drainage Improvements.

— BAYFRONT HIGHWAY/HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 19) —

1) HILO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Bayfront Highway (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 2 and 4, vicinity of Moʻoheau Park and Wainaku Street, on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for shoulder work.

2) HONOMŪ

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 12 and 14, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree trimming and shoulder work.

3) HONOMŪ TO WAILEA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 13 and 15 on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for tree cutting and brush mulching.

4) WAILEA (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 14.2 and 14.4 on Saturday, Dec. 10, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for Kolekole Stream Bridge emergency repair work.

6) PĀPAʻALOA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 22 and 24, vicinity of Maulua Bay and Pāpaʻaloa Ave, on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

7) PĀPAʻALOA

Single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 23 and 24, vicinity of Kapehu Road and Pāpaʻaloa Ave, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and grass cutting.

— QUEEN KAʻAHUMANU HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 19) —

1) KAILUA-KONA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 97 and 99, in the vicinity of Kaiwi Street to Kealakehe Hawaiian Home Lands, Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for storm drain maintenance.

2) KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 96 and 97.5 in the vicinity of Kealakehe Parkway to Ala Nui Kaloko, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for cleaning of culverts and drains along the highway.

3) KAʻŪPŪLEHU

Right side shoulder closure on Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway (Highway 19) in the southbound direction between mile markers 84 to 84.2, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for solar panel removal and repair along the highway.

4) WAIKŌLOA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway (Highway 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 67 and 75, in the vicinity of Waikoloa Road and Kawaihae Road, Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscaping and shoulder work.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 190) —

1) KAILUA-KONA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 20 and 24, vicinity of Makani Golf Club, Saturday, Dec.10, and Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD/HAWI ROAD (HIGHWAY 250) —

1) KOHALA

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Highway 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 9 and 13 on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road resurfacing.

2) KOHALA/HAWI (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road/Hawi Road (Highway 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 19.2, vicinity of Puuhue Road and Akoni Pule Highway, on Saturday, Dec. 10, and Sunday, Dec. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting, shoulder work, and pothole patching.

3) KOHALA/HAWI

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road/Hawi Road (Highway 250) possible in either direction between mile markers 14 and 18, vicinity of Puuhue Road and Red Cinder Road, on Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for landscape maintenance and shoulder work.
