County solid waste facilities to be closed for Thanksgiving

In observance of Thanksgiving, all Hawaiʻi County transfer stations, recycling centers and the landfill will be closed Thursday.

The closure also includes the East and West Hawai‘i organics facilities, Hilo reload station, HI-5 redemption centers at County facilities and reuse centers.

“We respectfully ask for your kōkua,” the Hawai’i County Department of Environmental Management said in a press release. “Please do not litter or illegally dump any materials at the closed transfer stations and recycling centers.”

Facilities will resume normal operations Friday.
