7.3 earthquake near Solomon Islands poses no tsunami threat to Hawaiian Islands

The U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 occurred at approximately 4:03 p.m. near the Solomon Islands off the coast of Australia in the South Pacific.

There is no threat of a tsunami to the Big Island or the State of Hawaiʻi, according to Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency.
