Several UH-Hilo women’s soccer players nab post-season honors

Several members of the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo women’s soccer squad have nabbed post-season honors for their performance on the field and in the classroom.

Five Vulcans voted to D2 CCA All-West Region Teams

Five UH-Hilo players were voted to the 2022 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region Teams.

Grace VerHage, Daelenn Tokunaga, Jodi Lillie and Lolo Retsky were named to the First All-West Region Team. Filippa Graneld received Second Team honors.

The five Vulcan selections also led all schools in the region.

Tokunaga, Lillie and Graneld are repeat honorees. Each were All-West Region selections last season.

The 13 members of the All-West Region First Team will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Nov. 30.

Six Vulcans earn CSC Academic All-District recognition

Six UH-Hilo women’s soccer players were named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team, which honors the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Maisie Paulson, Grace VerHage, Jodi Lillie, Jacelyn Cambra, Filippa Graneld and Daelenn Tokunaga each achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher while being major contributors to the Vulcans on-field performance.

It was the second time Lillie and VerHage were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.

Academic All-District team members advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have been a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and completed one full calendar year at their current institution.
