The Vulcans open the season at 6:30 p.m. tonight against Southwestern Assemblies of God University-American Indian College at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo. They will then take on the University of Alaska Anchorage at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the civic center.

UH-Hilo got a taste of action last week with an exhibition against UH-Mānoa, falling 87-71. Carlos Ramsey Jr. led the team in scoring with 21 points and was named a KTA Super Stores Superstar of the Week.

Last month, Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones was voted to the All-PacWest Preseason Team as the Vulcans were slotted to finish No. 8 in the coaches conference poll. Tait-Jones finished as 2020-21 PacWest Newcomer of the Year and 2021-22 PacWest Freshman of the Year, with All-PacWest Team honors in 2020-21 and 2021-22.
