No injuries following Pāhoa structure fire

No injuries were reported after a Pāhoa home was destroyed in a late night blaze Sunday.

Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the structure fire, located on the 15-2000 block of Aweoweo Street in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision, at 10:33 p.m. When they arrived on scene, they found a 30-foot-by-50-foot single-story wooden structure 90% involved.

No occupants or persons were found on the property and the residence seemed to be unoccupied, abandoned and in disrepair, according to HFD.

Flames were out at 12:45 a.m. Hawai‘i Police Department was also on scene to help create a safe working area during the operation.

The Fire was extinguished and overhaul completed with no occupants found in structure. The scene was turned over to HPD and all HFD units returned to quarters. HPD and HFD inspectors will perform further investigation and interview of neighbors to determine the cause of the fire.
