Souza, Cruz named KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week

The stellar performances last week of two University of Hawai‘i at Hilo student-athletes garnered them accolades from KTA Super Stores.

Christian Souza and Samara Cruz were named KTA’s Superstars of the Week for the week of Oct. 12-18.

Junior goalkeeper Souza made four saves to lead the Vulcan men’s soccer team to its first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win on Senior Day against Oakland, Calif.-based Holy Names University.

Junior women’s volleyball squad member Cruz last week had 15 digs and a career-high 20 kills against Holy Names before tallying eight kills and racking up 13 digs to help lead the Vulcans to a 3-0 sweep against San Rafael, Calif.-based Dominican University of California.

The KTA Super Stores Superstars of the Week highlights one male and one female Vulcan athlete each Wednesday for their standout accomplishments and highlights from the prior week.
