Swing a Club, Support a Footballer
Tee off for football, and in a new format to boot.
Waiākea Nā Koa, a football association dedicated to teaching local youth good sportsmanship and teamwork, is crossing sports and hosting its inaugural golf tournament at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Waikōloa Beach Golf Course where all money raised will go toward helping the team have a successful teaching season.
The association announced in a press release that they’ve been inactive the last two years during the pandemic, and is looking for hole sponsors for the tournament to ensure its first year back on the gridiron kicks off to a swinging start.
“Waiākea Nā Koa has been the heart of your community for decades, teaching our keiki the fundamentals of good sportsman ship, leadership and the game of football,” a press release stated. “Our mission is to develop well-disciplined youth athletes who strive for academic and athletic excellence.”
