A red flag warning is in effect starting at 11 a.m. till 6 p.m. for leeward sections of all the islands.
According to the National Weather Service, northeast to east winds around 20 mph with higher gusts and 40% humidity is expected this afternoon. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. A Red Flag Warning does not predict new fire starts.
