Updated Jan. 12, 2023: Big island police have located Shaelynn Gomes in Hilo on Jan. 6, 2023.

Original post: Hawai‘i Island Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a juvenile female who was reported as a runaway.

Fiveteen-year-old Shaelynn Gomes was last seen in the vicinity of the 8 ½ Mile Camp in Kea‘au on Aug. 18 around 3 p.m. She is described as being 5’ tall, 100 pounds, with a slim build, long brown hair, brown eyes, and an olive complexion. Gomes has no distinguishing scars or marks, but does have a tattoo of a dove on her right shoulder. She was last seen wearing a woodland camouflage jacket, black pants, and unknown footwear.

Police ask anyone who may have any information on the whereabouts of Gomes to contact the Hawaii Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311.
