Weekly Road Closures: July 30 – Aug. 5

The state Department of Transportation issued its weekly road and lane closures for July 30 through Aug. 5. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11) —

1) PĀHALA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 54 and 56, Ka‘alaiki Road and Hilea Road, on Saturday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for mowing with side arm.

2) NĀ‘ĀLEHU

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 60 and 63.5, vicinity of Niu Street, Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for mowing with side arm.

3) CAPTAIN COOK (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 93 and 95, ‘Ōhi‘a Malu Road and Kukui o Pa‘e Place, on Saturday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for mulching of trees and shrubs.

4) CAPTAIN COOK

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile markers 107 and 110, Rabbit Hill Road and Nāpō‘opo‘o Road, on Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for tree trimming and vegetation control.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HILO (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 4 and 5, Kulana Kea Drive and Kahoa Place, on Saturday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., for tree trimming and mulching.

2) HAKALAU (24/7 RESTRICTION)

Nanue Bridge at mile marker 14.27 on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) is weight restricted to 12 tons (24,000 lbs.) until further notice.

3) Ō‘ŌKALA

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile markers 30 and 31, vicinity of Ō‘ōkala Road and Niupea Homestead Road, Monday, August 1, through Friday, August 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for mowing with side arm and mulching.

— KALANIANA‘OLE AVENUE (ROUTE 19) —

1) KEAUKAHA

Single lane closure on Kalaniana‘ole Avenue (Route 19) possible in either direction between Kamehameha Avenue and Kauhane Avenue, nightly from 7 p.m. Monday, Aug.1, through 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, for the Kalaniana‘ole Avenue Reconstruction. 

— KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD/ PĀHOA-KALAPANA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

1) KEA‘AU (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile marker 0 and 2, Volcano Road to vicinity of Opukahala Street, Saturday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for mechanical mowing and shoulder stabilization.

2) KEA‘AU

Single lane closure on Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile marker 2 and 4, vicinity of Opukahala Street and Old Government Road, on Monday, August 1, through Friday, August 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

3) PĀHOA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile marker 10 and 12, Niaulani Street and Ka‘ohe Homestead Road, on Saturday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

4) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Pāhoa-Kalapana Road (Route 130) possible in either direction near mile marker 15.4, Alaili Road, on Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for pavement and guardrail improvements.

— OLD KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD (ROUTE 139) —

1) KEA‘AU (WEEKEND/WEEKLY WORK)

Single lane closure on Old Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 139) possible in either direction between mile marker 0 and 1.2, Volcano Road to Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road, on Saturday, July 30, and Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for mechanical mowing and shoulder restoration.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

1) WAIKŌLOA

Single lane closure on MāmalahoaHighway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 3.9 and 6.9, Saddle Road and Cross Island Road, on Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for shoulder widening, installation of rumble strips and other safety improvements.

2) WAIKŌLOA

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile markers 9.7 and 12.2, vicinity of Waikōloa Road, on Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for resurfacing.

— ‘AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 270) —

Single lane closure on ‘Akoni Pule Highway (Route 270) possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 8, Kohala Ranch Road and vicinity of Kaupala‘oa, Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for vegetation trimming and shoulder restoration.
