Update: Hawai‘i Island police report that the technical issues affecting its communications center and 911 call system have been resolved.

Original Story: Big Island police are reporting technical issues are affecting the emergency 911 system.

The Hawai‘i Police Department said in a media advisory at 12:26 p.m. today (Monday, July 18), that anyone experiencing an emergency should call the police department’s nonemergency line at 808-935-3311 while the technical issues persist.
