Hilo Man Faces Drug Charges Following Theft Arrest
A Hilo man arrested over the weekend is currently facing theft and drug charges.
Fifty-three-year-old Anthony Hatori was arrested on Sunday, July 10, after Hawai‘i Police were called to a report of theft in progress involving a female and male accomplice in the 110 block of East Puainako Street.
Hatori was arrested for being an accomplice to fourth-degree theft and two outstanding warrants.
During the course of their investigation, police conducted a pat down search of Hatori’s person and discovered 5.45 grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged in individual plastic zip packets for distribution, additional drug paraphernalia and $935 in U.S. currency.
The recovered drugs have an estimated street value of $250. The currency was seized for forfeiture.
Hatori was officially charged with first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, drug paraphernalia and accomplice to fourth-degree theft.
Hatori’s total bail was set at $87,700 and he remains in custody until his initial court appearance today in Hilo District Court.
