Unoccupied Home Destroyed in Captain Cook Fire

No injuries were reported after a vacant 1,900-square-foot home in Captain Cook was destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon, the Hawai‘i Fire Department reported.

Firefighters responded to the blaze around 3:45 p.m. on Nani Kupuna Place where they found the two-story structure full engulfed in flames. The fire was contained and extinguished around a half hour later, the department reported in a news release Monday, July 11.

The owner of the home was unknown as of Monday. The cause of the fire was also unknown. Damages were estimated at $218,000.
