Update: Big Island police reported at 5:34 p.m. Sunday that both lanes of Old Mamalahoa Highway between Kauniho Road and the 18-mile marker along Highway 19 near Umauma are now open. Police thank the public for its patience and encourage motorists to drive carefully.
