Update: Big Island police reported at 1:44 p.m. that Ali‘i Drive in Kona, north of Pāhoehoe Beach Park, is now open to traffic. Police thanked the public for its patience.
Original story: The Hawai‘i Police Department reported at 12:43 p.m. today (Thursday, July 7) that Ali‘i Drive in Kona, just north of Pāhoehoe Beach Park, is closed to traffic.
The closure is because of a brush fire.
Motorists should use alternate routes.
