Approximately 14 to 15 acres were scorched during a brush fire in Kaʻū Wednesday afternoon.

The brush fire was reported in the Discovery Harbor Subdivision in the area near Wakea and Kahiki Streets. As of Wednesday evening, the blaze was contained.

According to Hawaiʻi Fire officials, crews were wetting down the perimeter and a night watch was established to monitor the scene till morning.
