Motorcyclist Dies in Traffic Crash in Hāmākua District

Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in the Hāmākua District Monday night that closed a portion of Highway 19 in both directions in Honomū for several hours.

According to Hawai‘i Fire officials, a motorcyclist and vehicle collided near mile marker 13. The motorcyclist died and there were three others who suffered minor injuries.

Hawai‘i Police issued a road closure alert at 9:20 p.m. The area reopened at 1:30 a.m. today. The crash is currently under investigation.
