‘Akoni Pule Highway near the 9 mile marker north of Kohala Ranch is now open, police said at 9 p.m. Monday. It was closed due to brush fire, the Hawai‘i Police Department reported Monday at 3:30 p.m.
Motorists should use Kohala Mountain Road (Highway 250).
