COVID Weekly Update: 579 New Cases Confirmed on Big Island
The state Department of Health reported 5,482 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, June 22, bringing the statewide total to 303,333. Fifteen new fatalities were reported.
A total of 579 new infections were reported Wednesday on the Big Island. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.
The island-by-island case count is as follows:
- O‘ahu: 210,633
- Hawaiʻi: 33,566
- Maui: 34,506
- Kaua‘i: 15,408
- Moloka‘i: 1,132
- Lana‘i: 762
- Pending: 0
- Out-of-State: 7,326
Of those total cases, 9,881 required hospitalization, with 218 currently hospitalized. At least 1,489 have died since the pandemic began. Hospitalization data is updated Monday through Friday, except on state and federal holidays.
