Highway 19 Again Open Near Hau Street in Hilo

Update: Big Island police report that Highway 19 is now open. The Hawai‘i Police Department thanks the public for its patience.
Original story: The Hawai‘i Police Department advised motorists Monday morning to avoid Highway 19 and Hau Street near the 4 mile marker in the Wainaku area of Hilo due to a current traffic accident.
It will require a detour of traffic for the next two hours, the department stated at 7:30 a.m. Motorists are being detoured through Old Māmalahoa Highway.
