The Hawai‘i Police Department reported early Monday morning that Ali‘i Drive in North Kona is reopened.

It was closed Sunday afternoon in both directions between Honl’s Surf Spot and Lunapule Road because of a water main break and sewage spill.

The closure was expected to last through the night but the road reopened around 2 a.m.

The county Department of Water Supply conservation and water restriction remains in effect for the area.
