Grand Naniloa to Celebrate All Things Hawai‘i

Celebrate King Kamehameha Day on Saturday, June 11, with the Grand Naniloa Hotel in Hilo.

The hotel will present a Hawaiian Culture Showcase from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., highlighting its commitment to protecting, preserving and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture. The community and guests are invited to join in the immersive and free event.

“The Hawaiian Culture Showcase will emphasize the history of the Hawai’i Island, Hawaiian language, sense of place for the location of Maka‘okū on the Waiākea Peninsula, as well as the property’s storied history,” a press release from the hotel said.

The program will include authentic Hawaiian music and hula performers, as well as several exhibitors. Featured participants include Hālau Ke ‘Olu Makani ‘O Maunaloa, Hālau Nā Pua O ‘Uluhaimalama, Ke Ola Pono No Nā Kūpuna and special guest Ikaika Marzo, in addition to lei making, custom hairpieces and a hula implement display.

Beverages and food will be available for purchase at the hotel’s lobby bar. Valet parking and self-parking for the event is free.
